MMORPGs

Playing mantisAs we mentioned before, Games Kernel is going to focus on a different Linux Gaming topic every few weeks. This fortnight we’re going to be looking at MMORPGs, that’s Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games.

During this period we’ll be discussing the range of games that are available under Linux, the issues surrounding non-native MMORPGs, the Linux community in online games as well as providing some native games reviews. As ever, we welcome guest posts and suggestions, feel free to contact us or leave a comment below.

I can’t currently vote, don’t know why. I don’t know what I’d put anyway. I’ve played FFXI and quite enjoyed it but it took FAR too much time to really consider playing again seriously. I prefer much more plot than is possible in MMO games normally. Still, FFXI was fun and had a decent amount of plot where available. Recommended to anyone :) (although their hack protection won’t allow it to run in Linux :()

It’s just as well FFXI won’t run under Linux, or I’d probably run off and play it some more, and consequently fail my course.

I love MMORPGs, I’m just avoiding getting too obsessed.
